Cases vs. Deaths

Cases in the U.S. have hit a record. The implications depend a lot on what happens to the health system. Let’s look at cases vs. hospitalizations vs. ICUs vs. Deaths.

Deaths vs. Hospitalizations vs ICU vs New Cases

The main takeaway is that many of the cases now are cases that would NOT have been detected a few months ago – that explains the gap between hospitalizations and new cases.

There is not a huge difference between ICU, Deaths, and Hospitalizations. Perhaps a small difference. This either suggests that people with hospitalizations are not quite as serious of cases or treatment has improved.

The important number to follow now is hospitalizations. If they continue to rise, then that means there will be strain on the system.
